Electromyographic Evaluation of the Sound and Involved Knee During Gait of Hemiplegic Cerebral Palsy Patients

چکیده
Introduction Cerebral palsy patients exhibit several variations from the normal gait pattern, when the kinematic and kinetic information is analyzed [1]. Electromyography (EMG) is frequently applied in such patients during gait, in order to supply information about the activation patterns of the involved muscles. In normal gait, the co-contraction of the knee extensor and flexor muscles is increased during the loading response in order to stabilize the knee joint when absorbing the body-weight load, whereas the same muscle group remains silent during the terminal stance phase [2]. However, it is still unknown whether the same behavior exist for hemiplegic cerebral palsy patients as well. The purpose of this study was to compare the level of activation of the thigh muscles during the above mentioned phases of the gait cycle.

Changes in muscle activity in children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy while walking with and without ankle-foot orthoses.
We compared the electromyographic (EMG) signals of lower extremity muscle groups in 10 children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy (CP) while walking barefoot and in a hinged ankle-foot orthosis (HAFO). All children had excessive plantarflexion and initial toe-contact on the affected side when walking barefoot, a typical gait pattern for hemiplegic patients. The patients walked with a physiological...

Background: Deficits in upper body movement have received little attention during gait in cerebral palsy (CP) children with crouch gait pattern (CGP).Objective: Purpose of this research is to describe the correlation of trunk movement with the excessive knee flexion and ankle kinematic in CP children with CGP.Methods: Gait analysis data from 57 limbs of diplegic CP children with CGP and 26 limb...
متن کاملKinematic Gait Analysis of Upper and Lower Limbs Joints in Hemiplegic Children
Children with hemiplgic cerebral palsy often walk with diminished reciprocal arm swing so the purpose of this study was to describe kinematic characteristics in children with hemiplegic cerebral palsy (CP) during the gait suphases, and find if there is a correlation between upper(shoulder and elbow) and lower(hip, knee, and ankle) limb joints either in involved or uninvolved.48 children with he...
متن کاملJoint moment contributions to swing knee extension acceleration during gait in children with spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsy.
Inadequate peak knee extension during the swing phase of gait is a major deficit in individuals with spastic cerebral palsy (CP). The biomechanical mechanisms responsible for knee extension have not been thoroughly examined in CP. The purpose of this study was to assess the contributions of joint moments and gravity to knee extension acceleration during swing in children with spastic hemiplegic...

An experiment was carried out in the key laboratory for Technique Diagnosis and Function Assessment of Winter Sports of China to investigate the differences in gait characteristics between healthy children and children with spastic hemiplegic cerebral palsy. With permission of their parents, 200 healthy children aged 3 to 6 years in the kindergarten of Northeastern University were enrolled in t...
